This week we were able to design and carve a pumpkin.  We also learned what the word “circumference” means and found the circumference of our class pumpkin.  We also had fun being scientists and making pumpkin observations.

Ask your child:

  • What 2 countries were at war in September of 1814?
  • Why was Francis Scott Key proud when he saw our flag waving over Fort McHenry? What did it mean?
  • What are 3 things we do when we sing the Star Spangled Banner? (hint: hat, hand, stand)
  • Who is Rocky Raccoon? What question did they ask him in their journal this week?
  • What the word “circumference” means.

Memory Verse:  Same as last week – “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”  By Christopher Robin
