The year is flying by!  What fun it was to see the sled dogs this week.

Ask your Child:

  • How did the item they brought to school change over time?
  • To tell you the 3 states of matter (hint: solid, liquid, and gas)
  • To describe the differences when throwing a balloon filled with oxygen, water, and ice.
  • To tell you their favorite part about visiting the sled dogs.
  • Some fun facts about animals: What is the only animal on land that can not hop? Where is a shrimps’ heart?  An ostrich runs faster than a _______!

Ask your Child:

  • In the book, “Emmaline’s Bunny” what happened to Oliphant when his parents stood up to him and said “No, they would not be tidy”? (Hint:  face changing)  How did they get rid of him?  (Hint:  Think of a pin)
  • How is an egg like a person on the outside? What happened when the egg was cracked? How is this similar to each person?
  • What does the verse, “A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.” mean to them? If a friend gets sick and can no longer play outside with you, what is something you can still do?

It’s Homework Time!!!

Over the next couple of weeks, we are all going to become scientists.  On Monday, please bring something from home (please place it in a see through container) that you think will change over time (apple slice, bread, a flower, etc.).  As scientists, we will analyze and journal the changes that take place.

Another wonderful week has flown by.   Thank you so much for your incredible donations.   As a class, we earned $265 to buy gifts for a family.  Ask your child what they chose to buy!  This week we traveled all over the world.

Your kiddos are world travelers! This week we traveled all over the world.

  • Question: What did Mrs. Evans dad call her when she was a little girl? (One of her many nicknames).   Come and whisper it on Monday for a surprise.

Ask your child:

  • To tell you at least 1 place that sneaky elf, Elfie, hid.
  • To tell you how to play the new sight word game. (hint: the game with the hidden elf behind the word.)
  • What do people eat on Christmas day in Egypt? (Arion) Answer:  soup
  • What do people in Ireland place by their window at Christmas time? (Alesea) Answer: a candle

Veterans Day Celebration

****    Mrs. Evans brother was Great Garth Grundy and Mrs. Evans was "Prunker Girll."

 

I hope you have a wonderful Veteran’s Day!  We have a class donation jar for the “Tree of Giving”.  We will be collecting until Nov. 18. It’s been fun for kindergarteners to tell me how they have earned their donation.

Ask your child:

  • Would they rather pull a wagon with wheels shaped as a circle or a hexagon? Why?
  • How did the Veteran’s Day celebration make them feel inside?
  • To think of at least 2 words to describe how the veterans probably felt at the celebration.
  • To tell you one way you are special.

Homework: Christmas Around the World is your child’s final homework for 2021.  Have fun and be creative, kiddos!

****When Mrs. Evans was a little girl, her big brother Garth and her used to play together.  When we did, his name was “Great Garth Grundy.”  What was Mrs. Evans name?  (Go to the class website and whisper it to Mrs. Evans next week for a prize.)

I hope you all had a wonderful week!  Thank you so much for making this year so special.  Next week we will be gearing up for “Christmas Around the World.”  Stay tuned!
