I hope you all had a wonderful week. I look forward to creating our own community next week!  I will supply a paper bag, or your child can bring in a box (approximately the size of shoebox.)  They can also bring extra supplies if they want.

Ask your child:

  • To describe how they created their “green frog.” What did they use to make it bumpy?
  • To show you the signs and tell you the sounds for the entire alphabet! Do your best!!  (www. youtube Nellie Edge sign language” can help if you are interested.)
  • What should they do if they see a lighter or matches nearby? Where is a safe place for the family to meet in case of a home emergency?
  • To say your mom’s first name. How many beats or syllables to her name?  Say it!…clap it!…stamp it!…tap your head1…count the beats!.  Can you do this to one other family member’s name – and yes it can be a pet.  :O)

What a fun and busy week it has been!  We sorted, counted, and did patterns with stuffed animals.  We finished learning about the Pledge of Allegiance and each child took home their book. Next week we will start learning about our community.  This will be a lot of fun!

Ask your child:

  • What are two things that begin with the letter Mm and Ss?
  • To read the words: a, love, I, you, see, mom, dad, cat, the (these may be pretty hard still, but we will continue to practice them.)
  • What was new in the Texture Tub? (hint:  sand)
  • To tell you the sounds and signs that these letters make: h, I, j, k, l, m, n, o, p   (try your best)
  • To tell you how Flat Stanley was able to help the police catch the “sneak thieves” in the museum. What did he dress up as?
  • What does the word “indivisible” mean? How are the people in Mrs. Evans class “indivisible” ?  (hint:  we stick up for each other.  If someone is being unkind to someone else in our class, what should you do?  Walk away? Tell them to stop?  Laugh?)
